# Your Crown Heights shower-door choice starts at the threshold.

MetroGlass Pro gallery photograph of a sliding shower enclosure and white base. Its project location and product model are unrecorded; it is not evidence of a Crown Heights job or a particular manufacturer’s system.

A door can fit the wall-to-wall width and still be wrong for the base underneath it. The narrow surface at your feet deserves a place in the decision before the handle finish does.

For a Crown Heights shower replacement that keeps the existing base, start low. This MetroGlass Pro photo shows a black lower enclosure edge meeting a white base, with the vanity close on one side and the room door on the other. The overall view tells you where the glass sits. It cannot tell you the usable threshold width, its slope or what remains after old hardware is removed.

Compare the proposed system with the actual threshold before treating an opening width as a fit.

## Decide whether the base stays before comparing doors

Is this a glass replacement on a finished shower, or is the base being changed too? If the base stays, the new enclosure must be assessed against its existing surfaces and condition. If it is changing, a product photo of the future base is useful for planning, but final glass dimensions still depend on the finished installation.

In the photograph, the white base continues behind the dark bottom edge and into the shower. That visible boundary is a prompt to take a closer photo. Show the entire threshold from above, both end corners and the junction with each wall. Identify any existing track, holes, chipped finish or water problem. Do not remove a track merely to obtain a quote photograph.

## Ask which part of the threshold the system needs

The top of a threshold may include rounded edges, steps or a narrow flat area. Its overall width and the area a selected component can use are different questions. Ask the estimator to identify where the proposed lower guide, track or glass line would sit, and what must be checked on site. A rough homeowner dimension can begin that conversation; it does not approve drilling or fabrication.

Basco’s CELH-905 bypass-slider instructions include a minimum threshold-width requirement and ask the installer to assess the finished surface. The same document addresses panel orientation relative to the showerhead to reduce leakage. This is a concrete example of requirements belonging to an identified system. It does not identify the enclosure in MetroGlass Pro’s photograph, and its dimensions should not be transferred to a different door.

## Describe the water problem without diagnosing it from a photo

If water reaches the bathroom floor, record when it happens and where you first see it. Is it during normal shower use, after the door opens, or around a particular corner? Include the showerhead position in the same photo set as the threshold. An enclosure review can then address the proposed glass arrangement and seals alongside the visible room conditions.

Do not assume a new sweep will correct the base, drainage or a concealed assembly. Ask what the glass contractor can assess and what needs the renovation contractor or another responsible professional. For a base that is still being installed, resolve the handoff before a final measure. The useful outcome is an agreed next check, rather than a promise that one door style will stop every leak.

- Full threshold and both wall junctions.
- Showerhead position and the side used to enter.
- Where and when water appears, if that is part of the problem.

## Compare two layouts against the same base record

A slider, swing door or fixed panel changes more than the look of the fittings. Compare the lower edge treatment, the entry in use and the surfaces each proposed system needs. In this photograph, a sliding layout sits between a nearby vanity and room door. A different room might favor another movement, but the base record should remain the same in every comparison.

Ask the proposal to name the layout under review, the retained base, removal of existing hardware, visible preparation and any unresolved threshold condition. Share rough dimensions as preliminary information and arrange the appropriate final measurement before ordering custom glass. That keeps a Crown Heights replacement discussion focused on what the existing shower can actually accommodate.

## Bring the actual room into the estimate.

For this project, useful photos show:

- Full shower base and close threshold views at both ends
- Showerhead, approach, neighboring vanity and room door
- Existing track or fittings and the location of any reported water issue
